I have  made lovespoons to celebrate weddings, anniversaries as well as birthdays. They all have some meaning for the individual people for whom they are made.

The wood I use is mainly Lime though I have used Walnut, Mahogany, Apple and Tulip wood.

The age old tradition of the Welsh peasantry giving their loved ones a carved wooden spoon as a token of affection goes back many centuries.

The English term “spooning” is almost certainly derived from this old Welsh custom.
